BioDIP Autumn Seminar on "X-ray Microscopy"

26 September 2017: BioDIP Autumn Seminar

"Looking INSIDE with X-ray Microscopy"

The BioDIP Lighthouse Seminar Series was established to introduce a microscopy technique, available within the BioDIP, to local scientists and encourage interaction and exchange of information within the community. The seminar typically starts with a short introduction to the technique followed by 2 or 3 application talks, which put their focus mainly on the technical aspects.

This Autumn Seminar is dedicated to X-ray Microscopy, a technique that allows to acquire full 3D information of objects with isometric resolution.

Date: September 26

Time: 2-4 pm

Location: MTZ, SR 4/5 (2nd floor)

The introduction will be given by Mohsen Samadi Khoshkhoo (Zeiss) who will introduce you to the technology and the quality that may be achieved. Markus Löffler (Dresden Center for Nanoanalysis, DCN) will present biological and non-biolological application examples, explain to you how the X-ray instrument available at DCN can be used and what the limitations of the method are. Thomas Kurth (EMF, CRTD) has been using the instrument at DCN already with biological material and he will present the results and explain the benefits.
